FMEA-Facilitation
The FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) is a standardised procedure and provides methods for identifying failure types and their effects. The FMEA-Facilitator assists you with the analysis and assessment of failures, their cause and effects as well as corrective measures. This typically takes place during product development and process planning.
Your benefit:
You are about to develop a product or to plan a manufacturing process? Then surely timeous investigations on potential failures and defects within the safety and quality management will be necessary. The completion of an FMEA is a mandatory requirement for the motor industry and their suppliers as per standard TS 16949.
If a potential failure is identified at an early stage within the development process, it will be easier to remedy or remove it. Because of its standardised structure the FMEA-process leads to a better understanding of your product or process and thereby helps reduce the costs of subsequent errors.
You will not need special know-how of the analytical methodology. The IZP team in Dresden has experienced FMEA-specialists who will assist you with the preparation of the FMEA. They will facilitate the analysis and do the documentation. You will get professional support all along.
Procedure:
An FMEA typically begins with the structural break-down of the system to be investigated (product or process) into its elements and an outline of the functional interrelations. All imaginable malfunctions will then be discussed for each single function element. They will be assessed in regards of their significance, occurrence and detection probability. In some cases preventive measures will have to be defined.
The individual FMEA process steps are i.a. contained in standards DIN 25448, IEC 60812, VDA 4.2, HACCP and MIL-STD 1629.
Result:
The results of an FMEA are usually presented in a standardised form sheet as well as functions and error network diagrams. For this purpose IZP Dresden uses customary software packages (e.g. IQ-FMEA by APIS Informationstechnologien GmbH – see illustrations) to ensure a standardised approach.
